Week 4 with Dan – Wildlife and Wilderness

Monday

Welcome to Berta and Ona and welcome back to all the students from previous weeks.

Today we introduced the topic of wilderness and wildlife by talking about Animal Rights. We discussed a range of issues from factory farming to bullfighting using some photos to simulate an FCE speaking exam.

We also had some fun doing get to know you games and creating animal riddles.

I’m looking forward to working with you all.

Tuesday

Today we finished our crossword and reviewed what we did yesterday. We then focused on zoos, talked about the positive and negative aspects and researched some of the animals which we will see tomorrow. At the zoo we will record and photograph the conditions the animals are kept in and then on Thursday write a report highlighting if we think BCN zoo is good or bad and how similar the enclosures are to their natural habitat.

Good work today guys!! See you tomorrow!

Wednesday

We had a lot of fun at the zoo today. We went and looked at all the animals we researched yesterday and recorded lots of information. We even spoke to one of the zoo keepers to find out what the animals eat. See the photos below:

Tomorrow we will produce a report to compare the zoo with the animal’s natural habitats and decide how ethical BCN zoo is!

Thursday

Today we all worked very hard! We started by reviewing the vocabulary from the last few days by playing a game. We then wrote a detailed report highlighting our findings from yesterday, comparing it with what we found out on Tuesday. After the break we discussed what makes a good zoo and looked at lots of different (real) examples from around the world. Finally we created our own zoos which were great. (Photos to follow soon). Don’t forget presentations tomorrow and you can see their great work for yourselves.
