Pop Culture Say Cheese
Today we played some get to know you games including a treasure hunt for classroom rules, a human knot and shoe swap.
You have a star chart for the week to earn stickers for good behaviour and work.
Then we made TV name badges and we a ‘flag of me’, which included all your favourite things and information about you.
To finish we looked at opposite adjectives for superheroes and cartoon characters.
Today we started with a sentence jumble to review what we did yesterday. Then we got into two teams and played back to the board to recap the adjectives from yesterday. Finally we played pictionary with different superheroes.
Then we did a brainstorm about all the different abilites superheroes have and how we can describe them. Then we watched The Indredibles Trailer.
We used two computer programs to create a Superhero name for everyone and then you ‘styled-a-hero’.
To finish class we started designing our own superheroes to present to parents on Friday.
Today we started by talking about your trip.
Then we continued creating our Superhero design for open doors.
Then we starte dour experiment which involved wrapping our ‘super-eggs’ in all different types of material, including plastic, card, cotton wool, felt etc. We made mini superhero capes for our eggs.
Tomorrow we will predict if they will break or stay intact and throw them off the Oxford House terrace.
Today we finished wrapping up and protecting our eggs and then we predicted what would happen to them using future predictions language will/won’t.
Then you all threw them off the terrace. The only surviving eggs were Marcia’s, Carla’s and Adria’s! Well done. Everyone voted for Marcia’s as the best design so she won a chocolate egg.
Then we finished our superheros and listened to some songs.
Today we prepared for open doors by learning a superhero song, practicing describing our superheros and then finally writing and drawing a comic strip to present to parents and classmates.
Here are some pictures of a busy but fun day!
